I was entering the class thinking about if this teacher will be nice or mean. I neve put 100% into anything and I just want to pass. I never really had anything where I want to but my time and around something. I wasn’t in a good mood since the last teachers didn’t look promising. I enter here and Dr.Preston introduce himself and one of his first sentences, he cusses. I was in awe. I was only thinking ok this might be the best teacher I’ll have this year, because what I got from him screamed different and unusual. I was correct! We didn’t read stories that were revolutionary for its time, we got stories that still are relatable to us.  Dr.Preston wanted us to feel like we had an opinion so we had the choice to post on the blogs about how we felt about the passage or we just base it on a summary. My favorite post was where one day I just wanted to post about how video games don’t cause violence. I just wanted to and something else I loved was It didn’t take us months to finish these passages we could read in about one or two days to finish and then post about it. We didn’t make an essay on “this is what the character did and this what it meant” nope! We did “I found this interesting to me because blank” isn’t that amazing, Not only did we give our opinions and they were accepted we got feedback on what the other students thought about our comments. To me this is the definition of a learning experiences, however this does not mean it was perfect. I felt like it’s pretty darn close but because the classes are only 50 minutes long, we don’t have much time to do out blogs and other assignments. If we had 1 hour and 30 minutes or 2 hours this would be the perfect learning environment. This is when I developed strategies to become a bit better in this open source learning. I sometimes do other things to cover up my blog posts because in all honesty I forget about them because it’s not something I would consider a hobby but more like a school assignment. Since I also have other classes I tend to worry about those now then about this class since I’m caught up in trying to keep up. Though I love the assignments where we share our Ideas which doesn’t happen often, which is the journal. I hope we can collaborate with our peers. I want to be a group where we can put our ideas together in a poster or essay.because I want to show how different I am from the start of the year. I wasn’t gonna do much of the work unless I got a passing grade and now I want to get everything done to the point where I am satisfied with what I got in my assignment. What Dr.Preston is doing is something really beneficial.to us students because I did not want to read books I wasn’t interested in or was forced to read and break down and write it down to get it corrected and thrown away. I still don’t put 100% but this is the first time I put at least 70% into something so feel like I did something well for once. My favorite part about this semester was the interview and this is where I changed. I was so nervous and I didn’t think I’d do well and once I got up there. All eyes on me. It felt like I had a dagger against my neck, but what I did was think about something that is more scary than this. All my worries went away and I was smiling the whole interview and I was enjoying myself. I want to do the interview again if I could.
